Why Test and Tag?

Test and Tag is an essential part of every OH&S system. Electrical safety testing helps protect your employees' safety and helps protect Business from liability. Test and Tag services are created to comply with Australian Standard AS/NZS 3760:2010. Worksafe Victoria is now actively enforcing this requirement.

Did you know that there is thirteen plugs (called the appliance inlet in the specification) and thirteen matching sockets (called the connector) that may need to be tested?

All these inletsand connector are defined by specification IEC 60320. A set of 11 appliance-inlets/connectors are defined in specification AS/NZS 60320.1:2004. We can test the 11 as defined by AS/NZS 60320.1:2004 click here for details.

Do I Need To Test New Appliances I Just Bought

Yes, these items need to be tested before being placed in service. Just call GILBERT Australia - we can safely and quickly test the appliance so you can get on with business.

What Needs To Be Tested?

All portable equipment and their associated cables. For example, Power cords, Power boards, Computer equipment, Battery chargers (including Mobile phones), Extension cords, Mircowaves and Kettles.

Does 3 phase equipment need to be tagged?

Yes. 3 phase equipment does need to be tested and tagged according to AS/NZS 3760:2010. The main test to be performed is the earth leakage test. Our equipment can perform this test.

Do You Provide Reports?

Yes we do. All testing is supplied to you in an electronic database/file. A hardcopy can be arranged if required.

I Have Lost My Reports

No problem, GILBET Australia keeps all records for Customers for 7 years. Just give us a call and we will fax/email it to you.

Is An Electrican Required To Do The Testing?

No. The standard requires the person to be "Competent". GILBERT Australia has all it's personnel trained in the correct procedures. Furthermore all tests are supervised by qualified Professional Engineers.

How often do I need to test and tag my equipment?

The frequency of testing depends on the environment in which the appliance is being used. The harsher the environment then the more likely the appliance is likely to be damaged and the more often it is to be tested.

Do Safety Switches - RCD's (portable) need to be tested and can you test them?

Yes a RCD needs to be tested and yes Gilbert Australia can test these items. We can perform a standard test to ensure that the RCD trips as per the standard. We can also perform a ramp test if required to see at what point the RCD trips. ALL CD tests are performed using an ISOLATION TRANSFORMER. If your tester does not use an ISO transformer serious consequences may occur.
